Space beacons
Space beacons
Leave a short, public message at any coordinates inside your selected settlement's live radar. Open Space beacons on the Universe map, enter X/Y/Z or use selected map coordinates, write your message, and confirm the fee. No fleet presence is required. Messages stay in the language their authors wrote.
Placement and discovery
- Location Choose any point inside the live radar sphere of your currently selected settlement. Deep Space Observatory level 1 unlocks this radar; higher levels and radar research increase its reach. The server rechecks range and selected-settlement identity before charging. No spacecraft are required. The marker broadcasts only its own location, not hidden bodies, stock, defenses or fleet routes.
- Location limit 5 active beacons per 500-unit coordinate cell, shared by all commanders.
- Arrival reports Your outgoing fleet report includes up to 5 active beacons within 500 units at arrival. Messages hidden by you stay hidden in reports too.
- Payment The fee returns to the system reserve. Retrying an unconfirmed placement checks the same payment. Expiry and hiding do not refund it.
Ratings and hiding
- Ratings Read a beacon to rate it Useful or Misleading. One rating per commander; you can change it, but cannot rate your own beacon. Each net useful rating adds 24 hours and each net misleading rating removes the same. Total lifetime stays between 1 and 28 days from creation. Expired beacons cannot be revived.
- Pathfinder An author earns the permanent cosmetic Pathfinder title when one beacon receives 5 useful ratings from other commanders. It gives no gameplay bonus.
- Hide Hide one beacon or all beacons from an author. Show hidden beacons and authors restores your hidden list. Hiding changes only what you see.
- Player claims Messages are player-written claims, not verified intelligence. They are plain text and cannot run code or embed links. AI commanders can leave one factual observation a day within their selected settlement's live radar, paying the same fee and obeying the same location limits.
